Though born in Madrid, Spain, she moved to the U.S. with her family and began her career in the entertainment industry through the family band, HISPAFRIC. This talented artist has appeared in various commercials, TV shows, and films over the years.

Your career is wildly impressive and diversified. Can you tell us the story of how you got your start in the film industry?

BNM: Hello Clinton. It’s very nice to meet you and your readers. My introduction came at age 16. A relative of mine graduated from school with the degree in film and wanted to direct some short films. With that, a small cast and crew was assembled, and we started filming locally in our small Las Vegas neighborhood. We got around to filming two short films called ‘The Ugly 11’ and ‘El Corredor de la Muerte’ (The Corridor of Death) before both projects were sadly discontinued and our group disbanded. With that, I went on work with various productions from Telemundo to BYUtv. 

 

What got you into writing? 

BNM: I started writing around 7 or 8 years old. I wrote a short story for a school assignment about two kids trapped in a haunted house on Halloween and though I did not speak a lot of English at the time, my peers and faculty members were blown away by my efforts. Since then, I’ve written numerous short stories, poems, essays, and comic books until I went into full length novels at age 12. [laughs] I felt ready for the transition and it’s all I’ve done ever since.  

Can you talk about Searching Malware? 

BNM: I can’t say much at this time as it’s still in pre-production, but it’s an upcoming crime/mystery/thriller surrounding a group of people facing an unknown threat. [smiles] the plot and characters are very diverse and intriguing and I’m exciting to work with such a talent cast and crew on this project. 

What can you tell us about any upcoming book and where will it be sold? Please provide links.

BNM: The book is called Lights Out: Horror Stories to Read Afterdark and it will be available for purchase on my website and Amazon on October 29, 2021. This book is special because it marks my debut as a published author and my first attempt in the horror genre. I started writing this novel well over a year ago and I’m excited to see how my readers will receive it. Lights Out is a compilation of different stories inspired by different types of horror I enjoy as a horror movie fanatic (slasher, classic, zombie, etc.). [smiles] Think of it like a celebration of all things scary and strange. 

Can you tell us what inspires you as an actress and author? 

BNM: I’m a person that creative, imaginative, and free so these two are the perfect outlets for me to properly express my thoughts, feelings, and stories with the world. I was inspired to become an actress by Jamie Lee Curtis and my passions for writing was inspired by R. L. Stine. My introduction to Ms. Curtis was through her portrayal of Laurie Strode in the Halloween movies. Her performance was phenomenal, and I wanted to do the same thing. [smiles]. R.L. Stine is the reason why I enjoy all things supernatural and paranormal and his Goosebumps series hooked me from day one. 

Who are your favorite actors? 

BNM: Jamie Lee Curtis, Elizabeth Taylor, Aishwarya Rai, Lupita Nyong’o, Ali Larter, Milla Jovovich, Halle Berry, Deepika Padukone, Nicole Beharie, Eugenio Siller, Hugh Jackman, Jackie Chan, Aaron Diaz, Mena Massoud, Luke Bilyk, and Matt Dallas. [smiles]

Who are your favorite authors? 

BNM: R.L. Stine, James Patterson, Ellen Hopkins, Sarah Dessen, Margaret Peterson-Haddix, Joan Lowery Nixon, Joseph C. Evans, Madeline Roux, Cassandra Clare, Ann M. Martin, Meg Cabot, and Carolyn Keene. 

Your work in Cosplay is inspiring. Can you please tell us about who you play and how you got into it? 

BNM: Sure! I grew up in a household of anime, comic books, video games, and movies. I went from roleplaying (I would create stories and act them out with my younger siblings at home), to dressing up (school plays and Halloween parties) and eventually being introduced to cosplay in high school. [laughs] But I didn’t start cosplaying until I reached my 20s. I like to cosplay different characters from entertainment like Disney, Cartoon Network, Marvel, DC, original characters, and more. 

What can fans expect from you? Who are some people in the film industry you would love to work with one day?

BNM: I’m planning to expand and pursue different things very soon. [smiles]. In addition to the release of Lights Out on October 29th, I will be creating content on YouTube called ‘Cosplay, Crime, and Conspiracies’ in which I dress and discuss different true crime, creepy pastas, and conspiracy theories in pop culture. I am also preparing to participate in the next Miss Africa Utah pageant 2022 as the next Miss Guinea Equatorial and will be releasing my original music in 2022. More acting and modeling will be coming up soon as well. I encourage all my fans to follow my social media pages for more updated and information on what I’m up to. 

What project or script or actor or actress would be a dream for you to get to work with?

BNM: I would love to work with all my favorite actors on set one day and travel around the world portraying playing different roles in foreign language films. [laughs] My list would be too long to list. Some of my dream roles would be a yellow ranger in a Power Rangers reboot, Michiko Malandro in a live action series/movie, Princess Kidagakash Nedakh in a live action Atlantis movie, and Lady Yoruichi Shihoin in a live action Bleach movie, and many more unique roles!  

Ms. Macías, another question please. Can you tell me more about your upcoming music and who are your favorite artists? 

BNM: I would love to! I’m planning to release music around summer 2022 and I’m going for a summer beach type vide and theme. I’m into all sorts of music and I consider myself a multi-genre artist in everything type of art that I involve myself with. Some of my favorite artist include Hyolyn (Sistar), Jenyer (4minute), Cryoshell, Avril Lavigne, Kylee Saunders, Asian Kung Fu Generation, We are the Emergency, Oceans of Slumber, Kelly Clarkson, Cassadee Pope, Utada Hikaru, and Pink. 

What advice would you give aspiring actresses?

BNM: Study the magic of acting, audition, build your resume and take headshots (very important and essential to get work, get a good agent when you’re ready, practice daily to stay sharp, and market yourself. Be disciplined, consistent, and openminded, but never negotiable your moral code and belief system. Be yourself, remember who you are, and never forget where you come from. It’s always important to know where you stand with yourself and where you stand in a world that’s ever changing and constantly making demands of you. Don’t be discouraged by the rejections that will come your way. The road to success is never a smooth one.
